Game Notes: NorCal State Cup vs. Placer Gold

Dear Players and Parents,

Please read through the post and watch the videos to support your learning this week.

The Match Report is pretty simple: Make our scoring chances and play consistent with better intensity. We are on the verge of playing well once we get over the hump of consistently playing with intensity and making our passes and scoring plays. We are giving up too many goals from long balls (concentration) and soft goals because we failed to clear a ball. And we are not scoring when it can change the game. Defending set plays are an opportunity to prepare to defend and not rest!

When teams give up goals they are vulnerable and their confidence level drops. Think about our mentality when we get scored on - we became vulnerable - look at our past games - we are giving up goals after we initially get scored on -- both of our last NorCal matches against tough opponents were 0-1 at halftime yet finished 0-6 & 0-4 (We also have to look to fitness as an issue as we seemed to fade in each match). You have to develop the mind set to consistently get after them. How do you develop this mindset? How does an ant with wings learn to fly?

Training this week will be fun and will focus on being resilient.

Remember to focus on your performance and not your teammates mistakes. Find ways to encourage your teammates by how hard you play and the words you use to uplift your teammate.
